The singularity is upon us. For our 2023 Super Bowl campaign we went to the origin story of Squarespace with a little help from Adam Driver. We broke the internet with a surreal mockumentary film and then followed it up with a cinematic Super Bowl spot. We then created a trippy microsite and created a singularity limited edition template for everyone to use.

Our first campaign focused on the growing Creator community which tells the story of how you can turn your following into the next Culinary, Fashion or Wellness empire.

To kickstart 2022 we launched a Super Bowl campaign that put a modern twist on an old tongue twister. Sally Seashells starring long time customer Zendaya, narrated by André 3000 and directed by Edgar Wright became one of the Top 10 Best Ads of the Big Game.

We created a cheeky spot for the UK called The Neighbors Will Talk which takes the British love of “hot goss”to a whole other level.

To end 2021, we launched a new brand platform Everything to Sell Anything which showcases the variety of ways to transact online with Squarespace.

We partnered with John McEnroe x Netflix to conceive, direct and produce a Mocumentary which follows John in his next chapter as a voice over artist. And he’s got a Squarespace website to prove it.

After my 9 years at Squarespace it all culminated with the overwhelming experience of taking our company public. Our IPO took over the NYSE and covered Time Square with our monochromatic branding to celebrate this iconic moment in time.

We worked with Dolly Parton to remake '9 to 5' as '5 to 9' for our iconic 2021 Super Bowl spot with Damien Chazelle. We created the song in collaboration with Dolly as a rallying cry anthem for people to turn their side hustle into their full-time gig.

We created a cinematic short film called Launch It, aiming to inspire the next generation of makers to take the big leap into the unknown. Our film was inducted into the MoMA archives for best in class sound design at AICP.

In partnership with Sesame Street x Oscar the Grouch we created a campaign where which showcased Oscars meteoric rise to fame as this generation’s greatest artist. A Cautionary Tale has already passed 40 million views. In addition we created a website which sold Oscars trash art which sold out in 24hrs.

2020 also saw us collaborate with Winona Ryder. Welcome to Winona brings her back to her namesake town that she was named after to find her true self. We also created a photo essay which chronicles her journey on Squarespace that you can find here.

We featured customers Alt rock and Brrrch in heightened visual worlds for two films which showcase how Squarespace can transform your idea into something real.

Had the opportunity to work with Idris Elba x Spike Jonze where we urged people to Dream it to the soundtrack of the late Doris Day which won Directors Guild Award for best commercial. We also created a comedic short film telling people to take that dream and Make it a reality which won a Cannes Lions for its comedic performance.

We told the world to “Squarespace It” when lightening strikes. Whether that’s at a Diner, or playing Thermo Chess, or even watching Mimes.

Refreshed our Brand Identity for Squarespace which won a Yellow Pencil at D&AD 2019. We updated our logo, created a new typeface called Clarkson and introduced a kinetic identity system inspired by our roots in New York City. We’re one of the few and biggest tech companies that can call this city home and we wanted to make sure people knew that we’re not a Silicon Valley transplant.

Decided what better way to celebrate the best of the worst year on record by literally putting our customers up on a pedestal with Browser History Our annual end of year series highlighting the inspiring customers using our platform to make their dreams a reality.

Created a comedic campaign to communicate how a website legitimizes your idea. Whether you’re a Wedding Planner, escaping a Sinking Ship, or starting an Underdawg fashion brand. The ads promise to solve most everything, except for the weird stuff.

We transformed the worlds of our customers into dream like scenarios. A custom Garage refurbishing old classics, a Restaurant that goes from an idea to the next big thing, or a simple Printing press idea that you can run from your bedroom.

Had the unusual opportunity to convince Keanu Reeves to Make It Happen and surf a motorcycle on the world’s biggest stage. Keanu is motorcycle enthusiast and wanted to create a Super Bowl campaign that shows how he Made his Website for his motorcycle brand on Squarespace.

We created a campaign that urges people to stand out from the sea of sameness. Did you know that there are 132 bands names Atlas, 10,197 Magicians you’re competing against, and there are 65,924 people who call themselves Storytellers?

Our meta Super Bowl campaign Who’s John Malkovich won an Emmy Award for Most Outstanding Commercial of the Year. We also made a poetic, misdirect short film about John’s journey from an actor to a fashion designer which was created in parallel with the launch of John’s new Menswear Fashion line on Squarespace.

We collaborated with Daniel Arsham to illustrate how he used Squarespace to showcase and sell his art. We worked with Sadie Williams to demonstrate why your website is a reflection of your brand. We also told the story of why Danny Bowien uses Squarespace for Mission Chinese Food.

Partnered with Secret 7 and Mind to communicate the importance of mental health and created an experiential online and offline exhibit called Speak your mind that allows people to express their feelings through a generative, typographic engine we created.

We came up with the ridiculous idea of doing live commentary of the Super Bowl with Key & Peele. We began with calling a Press Conference, followed by a cliffhanger spot to promote Real Talk on the Super Bowl, and finally did a real Livestream of commentary for the whole game.

Our mission is to make the web a more beautiful place, which is why we created a campaign called Build it Beautiful which the featured customers Yield, Apothecary and Greater Goods.

More than a website, A “Squarespace” has become part of the language of the web which is why we partnered with Leon Bridges, David Guttenfelder and Alex Honnold to tell their stories. We even created a full length documentary with Leon called This is Home and a Climbers Cut of our Alex Honnold collaboration for the die hard climbers.

We had the opportunity to partner with the iconic Jeff Bridges to create one of the most talked about Super Bowl Campaigns to date. In collaboration with Jeff, we created a full length album of Sleeping Tapes and promoted it on Squarespace by airing one of the weirdest, most talked about ads of the year with one meditative Om. The ad brought you to Dreaming with Jeff which crashed Squarespace for a few min because of the surge in traffic. Finally we created a How-To with Jeff to explain how he created his website.

Finally if that wasn’t weird enough, we had an opportunity to work with David Lynch, John Malkovich and Sandro to bring together a one of a kind art installation online hosted by Squarespace. Playing Lynch is an ode to all the Iconic Characters from Lynch films reimagined to raise awareness and donations for the David Lynch Foundation.
